These photographs are of a public performance of the Adlib Steel Orchestra on July 31st, 2014. Adlib performed for two hours in the first of a series of lunchtime outdoor concerts in the plaza of the Manhattan Municipal Building at 100 Centre St., adjacent to City Hall.
The concert series was hosted by the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the completion of the Building. The building is a highly regarded example of McKim, Meade and White Architecture from the early 20th century, and was, at the time of construction, the largest office building in the world, in terms of floor area. The building is considered the inspiration for the design of a number of other famous buildings.
