Home / My Travels / Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar, September 2019 / Tavira Portugal, September 12, 2019 20
I left Sagres after completing the nature walk at the fort. My room that night was in Seville, Spain, so I had a long drive ahead. But I took a slight detour to visit Tavira, one of the easternmost Portuguese towns in the Algarve.
Tavira turned out to be a very pleasant small town with a nice (but modern, not Medieval) retail center and another 'Roman' (apparently actually Moorish) bridge.
Its claim to fame is its Camera Obscura which looks like a giant elevated water storage tank, but has optics which project views of the surrounding town on its interior walls. Unfortunately it closes at 3PM and I was there about 5PM. But the stop was still a pleasant break from the long drive.
