My journey started in San Francisco where I met my long time friend from Trinidad, Val Serrant.
Val is an African drummer and pannist of high regard. He had a gig that evening drumming for a dance recital at the Presidio Middle School there in San Francisco. I had the opportunity to attend, where, in addition to Val's performance, I got to see a bunch of talented youngsters perform.
It is good to see that the arts survive in at least some public schools.
